ASOHack

Frequently asked questions

Everything about ASOHack — what it does, what it doesn't, and how it stacks up.

Basics

What is ASOHack?

ASOHack is a free App Store Optimization tool. Paste any App Store (apps.apple.com) or Google Play (play.google.com) URL and get an instant AI-powered audit across six categories: ASO, Reviews & Ratings, Ads & Paid Acquisition, Conversion Efficiency, Competitive Position, and Technical Health. Reports are saved and get a shareable URL you can pass around.

Is ASOHack free?

Yes — completely free. No signup, no credit card, no trial gate. Each IP can run up to 5 full audits per day to keep server costs predictable. If you hit the limit, the counter resets after 24 hours.

Do I need to sign up or log in?

No. ASOHack has no authentication system. You paste a URL, you get a report, and you can copy the share link. We use the IP address only for rate limiting, not identification.

Does ASOHack work for both iOS and Android apps?

Yes. ASOHack supports both Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). Paste any product URL from either store and the tool will fetch metadata, sample recent reviews, and run a full audit. Each store gets store-specific recommendations (Apple Search Ads vs Google App Campaigns, etc.).

How it works

How long does an audit take?

About 8–15 seconds total. The tool runs three parallel passes: metadata + review analysis with GPT-4o-mini, vision analysis on the app icon and first three screenshots with a vision-capable model, then synthesis into the final JSON report.

What does the AI vision analysis check?

The vision pass scores the app icon (recognizability at thumbnail size, color contrast, distinctiveness, style — mascot vs glyph vs wordmark), the hero screenshot (value-prop clarity in one second, copy legibility, visual hierarchy, ad-readiness), and the screenshot set (variety, consistency, missing shot types). Each visual element gets a concrete top-fix recommendation.

What are the six scoring categories?

ASO (35% weight — title, subtitle, description, keywords, visuals, localization), Reviews & Ratings (20% — rating health, sentiment, dev response), Ads (20% — creative readiness, Apple Search Ads / Google App Campaigns / social channel fit, monetization, funnel), Conversion (10% — above-the-fold completeness, trust signals, pricing perception, update cadence), Competitive (10% — competitor positioning, keyword gaps), and Technical (5% — size, freshness, permissions, privacy labels).

Can I compare two apps side by side?

Yes. The /compare page accepts two store URLs, runs full audits in parallel, and shows scores across all categories with diff markers indicating which app wins each category and by how much. Comparison URLs are shareable.

Comparisons

How is ASOHack different from Sensor Tower?

Sensor Tower is an enterprise market-intelligence platform with custom pricing typically in the thousands per month, oriented around portfolio tracking, ad intelligence and historical trends across millions of apps. ASOHack focuses on producing a deep, actionable audit for a single app in under 15 seconds — free, no signup. If you need market-wide intelligence and historical data, use Sensor Tower; if you need a fast, opinionated audit and concrete fixes for your own app, use ASOHack.

How is ASOHack different from Data.ai (formerly App Annie)?

Data.ai is also an enterprise platform focused on app market intelligence — downloads, revenue, demographics, store trends. It's built for analysts and competitive intelligence teams. ASOHack is built for the indie developer or growth marketer who needs to know, today, what to fix on their listing to convert more installs. The two tools serve different jobs.

How is ASOHack different from AppTweak?

AppTweak is a mid-market ASO platform with strong keyword research, ad intelligence and creative analysis, priced in the hundreds of dollars per month. ASOHack overlaps on the audit and creative analysis side but is free and gives you the deep audit in one click rather than a dashboard you configure. AppTweak is the right choice for a dedicated ASO manager managing multiple apps; ASOHack is the right choice for a one-off in-depth audit.

How is ASOHack different from AppFollow?

AppFollow specializes in review management and reputation monitoring with strong sentiment analysis and reply workflows. ASOHack analyzes reviews as part of the audit but does not run reply automation; we extract praise themes, complaint themes, bug mentions and feature requests as inputs to the broader optimization plan.

Are there other free ASO tools?

Yes — App Radar offers a free tier, ASOdesk has limited free features, and various keyword tools run free trials. ASOHack's specific niche is the one-click full audit with AI vision on visual assets and shareable report URLs, without signup. If you want continuous keyword tracking on a free plan, App Radar is worth a look.

Data & privacy

What data does ASOHack collect about my app?

Only publicly available data from the App Store and Google Play: title, subtitle/short description, full description, icon, screenshots, ratings, recent reviews, category, version, last update date, and similar metadata. No API keys, no developer account access, no install data, no revenue data.

Are reports public?

Reports get a hash-based URL like /r/abc123. The URL is not advertised publicly but anyone with the link can view the report. We list recent audits on the /history page. If you don't want a report indexed, do not share its URL.

What about my own data?

We only see your IP (for rate limiting) and the URLs you paste. We don't ask for your email, name, or any account info. There is no signup and no tracking of individual users beyond the analytics on the site.

Technical

What AI models does ASOHack use?

We use OpenAI gpt-4o-mini for text-based metadata + review analysis (fast, cheap, structured JSON output) and the same model in vision mode for icon + screenshot analysis. The exact model may change as better ones become available.

Can I use ASOHack via an API?

There's no public API at the moment. The internal /api/analyze-store route is rate-limited and not documented for external use. If you need programmatic access, get in touch.

Is ASOHack open source?

The code lives at github.com/BugraSozeri/aso-hack-web-new. The repository is private at the time of writing but may open up in the future.
